Omni Homestead

On a road-trip into the mountains – George Washington National Forest. Taking care of some business, but arrived early. Decided to get breakfast and read some.

The scenery is a delight. The weather is perfect. The location was top tier.

The Omni Homestead.

Established in 1766 – yes it’s older than the USA – by homesteaders and those who ran the bath houses. However, Native Americans used this area for millennia because of the healing and mineral springs.

The resort has changed owners and restructuring through the years. Check out the history here.

The room rates are what’s expected in a Resort destination right near Hot Springs Va. – who knows, they may still be skiing near by.

The breakfast was one of the best buffets I’ve seen. Barely scratched the surface of what it offered but a relaxing and wonderful experience.

I did kind of throw the server off when they asked for my room number and I said I wasn’t a guest, but they got right back into the groove.

I would recommend the area, and the dining, but there are a lot of great places in this neck of the woods. Albeit, this is the major leagues.

So, if you’re in the area … try it out.

My only negative, I should’ve brought my wife. She would love it and she might be mad I came without her.

Who knows, I may find a room and look for a trail to trek tomorrow.

I am jealous. Thirty years or more Calvin and I were guests and loved every minute…well, I did. He attended an auction getting equipment for his new business. Enjoyed the rocking chairs and the people I met. ENJOY, you deserve it.
