Some days you just need to take a break and take in nature.
Spring is upon us. The mountains are calling. So, this past weekend, I loaded into the Subaru and headed to Peaks of Otter Lodge for a delightful breakfast. The weather was delightful and clear. The view was stupendous and the water was rippling slightly from the wind coming over the ridgeline. I didn’t hike any of the trails, though I have before, I did enjoy a wonderful meal.
We got a table by the window and prioritized the coffee. The mugs at the Peaks of Otter Lodge are creative stoneware with the name of the Lodge and Blue Ridge Parkway on the mug.

The coffee was hot and smooth. The meal was a basic for a Lodge continental breakfast. And the company, well … she was divine, always.

We set there, ate our meal, taking in splendor of God’s creation. The flowers are blooming and hardwood trees are filling in the leaves.
Peaks of Otter, POO for short … yes, I said POO. Peaks of Otter is back in season and the crowds are beginning to gather. The Lodge is a quaint place to stay and at a good place om the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a camp ground near by and the three ridges (Flat Top, Sharp Top and Johnson Farm) have great trails ascending the mountain sides. There is a 1 mile loop around Abbot Lake at the Lodge and we took advantage of the cool weather.

Some days you just need to take a break and take in nature.
Go to the mountains and appreciate what God has created …
Go to the beach and appreciate what God has created …
Take a drive through the countryside … look at the rolling hills, the livestock at the farms, the spring crops are coming in …
And though it’s too late to catch the Northern Lights, it’s never too late to catch a beautiful sunrise or colorful sunset …
Take a walk in the woods, get your shoes a little muddy …
Some days you just need to take a break and take in nature.
Extra Word – If you have a picture of the Northern Lights, I would love to see it. Share in the comments or send me direct.
