This is short loop from the Loft Mountain Wayside. It is about a mile and half around, which includes a few offshoots to the rocky vista spots. It is rated easy to moderate (depending on who is doing the rating.) There is about a 450 foot ascent … and it can get a little steep at times. Not harsh, but enough to be cautious. This is probably why AllTrails makes it moderate.

It connects with the Appalachian Trail and is just a short walk from the Loft Mountain camp ground. Also at the campground is a camp store that offers so much more than the gift ship at the Wayside. One trail app referred to it as the Loft Mountain Loop.

The trail head is just across from the Wayside. So after the brisk walk, It is a good place to visit for a grilled cheese sandwich and a chocolate shake (if in season.) Plus the Wayside has facilities and ample gifts and Tees.

This trail is probably not wheel chair accessible, especially the rocky viewpoints, but it was pretty easy.
It gave a variety of trekking … boulders you walked around and under (no scramble) as well rocky steps. There were trees and shade aplenty. And I even saw some wildlife upclose. Two deer were in the parking lot and a 6-pt buck was chowing down on the rocky vista viewpoint. Lots of squirrels and chipmunks. They had a bear warning out, but not a bear in sight on my walk.
The trail was covered with leaves so there was the possibility of a little slippage to keep one alert.
This is not one I would’ve driven 2+ hours to drive, but it did prove worth the stop once I was in the area.

To my friend … Taylor Frazier … not sure if this path was named after you … for you are way more complicated and you probably would’ve shot the buck.
May everyone enjoy the outside … one hike at a time!
