So, I headed to Texas. Didn’t tell the son I was coming (did tell daughter in law) and going to pick him up, with 3 year old grandson, and head to Big Ben National Park (on my bucket list.)

Taking the FJ Cruiser – for I want to do some primitive roads inside the park.
Over the next few days, I will share some insights and humorous takes on this road trip. But I start with a question or two …
Is there something you need to just get up and do? Some type of adventure?
What is stopping you?
Initial thoughts …
- 60 hours in an FJ … is it the destination or the journey?
- What are essentials I should take in the limited area of the cargo space?
- For a person whose identity is wrapped up in his job, how can I let go for a week?
- What audio book works you listen to on the trip between Virginia and Dallas? I assume it’s going to be Danny Go, Veggie Tales and Spidey And Friends once the 3 year old takes over the audio system from Dallas to the Chuhuahua desert!
Last thought … why am I not taking the 1 year old as well? My rule – if you can’t walk, you can’t go. Sorry Dash. One day you’ll live up to that name.
