Food.
Arrived in Fort Worth, Cow Town, Little sister to Dallas, and surprised my son and especially my grand son.
The road trip down, leg 1 of 4, was great. Very little weather. Beautiful trek through the mountains. Sunrise in Texas as I approached the Dallas skyline.
I do love this area for many reasons, and one of them are the great restaurant and eating establishments.
36 hours in DFW and I ate at …
- Cafe Brazil (my fav 24 hour coffee and breakfast spot in the metroplex)
- Hard-8 BBQ … oh yeah.
- Truck Yard … food trucks, live music, Brazil steak tacos, and so much more … all in a funky outdoor setting with old broken down trucks all around (((to be clear, this is many front yards in Louisiana where I lived for a while)))
- Black Bear Cafe — huge breakfast and great black coffee
It was at the last place I came out to a surprise. A second Voodoo Blue FJ. Great minds.

It seems like I eat a lot, and it may look that way. But I was very cautious and really didn’t. But there is something special about gathering around a meal and just share.
Here are some a Truck Yard pics …

As this post hits the ethernet, I am leg 2 – DFW to Big Bend. And this time, I’ve got a three year old with me (and his dad.)
Closing thought … have you sat down, shared a meal, and just hung out with someone lately? Maybe to need to!
