part two of ten goals to deepen your Christian walk …

#1 was to start each day acknowledging God’s presence. But more than just knowing He is with you, it is also about letting God be the focus, the center, the very foundation of our journey. And one way to support this decision is to have a daily devotion.
2. Resolve to anchor your faith with a daily devotional
Our hearts need daily reminding of God’s goodness. Starting each day grounded in truth keeps us centered, no matter what we face.
I once heard an elderly couple that had been together for decades. The wife was finally fed up and addressed her complaint with her hubby. Let’s go with Martha and George. Martha said, “George, I’ve had enough. You never tell me you love me. You sit there year after year and I never hear it. I love you deeply, but do you even love me?” George responded, “Martha, I told you when we got married 58 years ago that I love you. If that ever changes, I will let you know.”

Sometimes, we need reminding, no matter what George thinks. So I will repeat what I said earlier … Our hearts need daily reminding of God’s goodness. Starting each day grounded in truth keeps us centered, no matter what we face.
So doing a daily devotional is a way to stay grounded, to remind ourselves.
Use an App (like YouVersion Bible), get a daily email or text (Denison, Caine, so many out there), listen or watch a podcast. This is not a Bible study – just a devotional … a short, spiritual challenge to help us apply God’s Word in our lives.

Practice: Commit to spending time with God each morning. Even fifteen minutes makes a difference. Let consistency, not perfection, be your goal.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” —Romans 12:2
