Yesterday our youth pastor shared from Daniel 3 … three guys who wouldn’t bow down to the golden image and threatened to be thrown into the fiery furnace. Being the youth pastor (and a kindergarten teacher), I expected more Veggie Tales and less exposition … jk, that would have been me doing that.
A tremendous challenge, heartfelt sharing, and powerful reminder that God is always at work … even right beside us in the fire.
Here are some of my notes …
Who is the God who will deliver us? Yes, we know, but the world doesn’t get Him.
We should never presume God’s response or His reasons when we are being persecuted. We may expect delivery, but He may have bigger plans.
So if we are not to presume, what can we know for certain …
– God is not passive. He is working in all things everywhere.
– God is not remote. He is intimate. He was in the fire with them.
– God is not indifferent. He is for His children. Through this, a public proclamation went out to preserve all of Jewish faith. God used the fire to save the nation and Get Word about Him out!
The furnace isn’t worth it because they survived, it is worth it because they walked with God.
Get ready for the next one DD. People may want to hear you more than me.
