Ugh. I’ve got it. It crept in slow, but kicked into a higher speed rather quickly. The common cold. Started with a scratchy throat. Sinuses then kicked in. Tired and worn. Chest congestion came shortly after. Lord, just take me home before it progresses down the highway.
Why is it men seem to take illnesses so much harder than women? My wife would still be kicking strong. In so many ways, she is so much stronger. But this is not about her.
Sickness. I understand we live in a world of germs, diseases, and mishaps. And I know we should take care of ourselves. And part of taking care is rest. The Lord created us, and created us with a need for rest. So maybe this cold was God’s way of kicking me back and making me rest a bit more.
So, today … you, me, all of us, may we take a moment, an hour, or whatever you need to take … and rest.
Matthew 11:28-29 “…Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
