IT’S APRIL … BEEN SINCE OCTOBER!
Last October, my wife and I went on a road trip. I wrote about some of that, and the true and wonderful experience it was! But what happened? Why has it been 6 months since any post?
In short – life happens. Distractions. Busy-ness. Laziness. Much has happened. Christmas. Easter. New experiences. Concerts. Hikes … LIFE. But the critical point is I just never got around to writing the “Muddy Shoes Blog”.

But I am back. (Yeah, Yeah, said that before. But hoping to really mean it this time). So what does this mean? What should you expect?
Life experience. Hiking hiccups and highlights. Grandkid stories – and more grandkid stories.
Join us on the website or click the link on Facebook, IG and X. Might even find this on linked in. Because … “They’re Heeere” … the blog posts that is, not the poltergeist.
And along with the stories, anecdotes, humorous life happenings … you will find some down to earth insight on living a Christ-centric in a muddy world.
Today – just a quick note. I just returned from Fort Worth (more on that in weeks to come.) And the important part – I saw my brand new grandchild. David Asher … and we will call him – Dash.

Names are important. David means “beloved” and Asher means “blessed” or “happy.” At least according to the kids and to Google. According to the mother (my D-I-L), Dash looks more like a gremlin, with that stoic and stone face. He’s chill, laid back, and quite a peaceful little coo-er. He stares and coos, a lot. And as he grows, he will be loved, blessed and surrounded by those who forever have been changed.
We carry our names. And very often, our names begin to carry baggage. We get hurt, picked on, beat down. Our name has mud thrown on it. Our name can bring back heartaches and even bitterness. Fortunately, there is an unusual truth about heaven. God says for those that are His, He gives a new name.
“To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it” (Rev 2:17)
There are several explanations about this stone and our new name – a token if identification – a white stone meaning not guilty – a charm that represents our salvation – a connection to the name of Jesus. That discussion is a worthy discussion but not today. What I take to heart is my Savior really knows me. He knows my baggage, my heartaches, the muddy shoes I walk in. He really knows me and He has a new name reserved for me, for any who call on Him.

Does He have one for you? Do you want a fresh start, clean slate? I hope so. And if I see you on the other side of the Jordan (figuratively), I will call you by the name on your white stone. Whatever that is. Unless of course, no one else will ever know it.
What will my name be? Don’t care. I am just glad He has one for me.
. . . . . . . .
And tomorrow – check back and we will talk about lessons from the road trip top Fort Worth. Two Words: Tecovas and Cookies.
