The other day, I was driving to the big city. No, not NYC, but Lynchburg, VA. I guess size is relative ain’t it?
Back to the story. The other day, while driving to the big city, I glanced over to the railroad tracks running parallel to the state highway. I saw something I’ve never seen before … turkeys. Not just turkeys, seen them before, especially hiking in the Commonwealth. These turkeys were gathered and hanging out on the railroad tracks.

I wondered if this was a normal thing. Apparently it is more common than I thought. Or, maybe it is a turkey conspiracy. They are rising up in these dark days. Last week, in New Jersey, turkeys were on the track in Staten Island and held up the train – not once, but twice.
Back in February, it held up a Metro bus in Staten Island.

Are turkeys out there trying to hold up public transportation? Or are they just mere nomads that are ‘wrong place-wrong time’? I guess we will need to ask them. Don’t expect an answer if you don’t speak ‘turkey’.
What TRUTH do I see in this? If I was still in a cave looking at shadows (see yesterday’s post) … I would imagine it is about animals having intelligence that they are seeking payback for Thanksgiving? Maybe they are trying to prove they should’ve been the national bird, not the eagle? Ask Ben Franklin about this.
What I saw reinforced the truth we were created to be part of a group, or in this case, a ‘rafter’! That’s the most common name of a group of turkeys.

We were recreated with a need to be in relationships – it’s not good to be alone. From the earliest day of man (singular man, Adam) we are told we need relationships, we need other people.
I get it, we sometimes need solitude, alone time, escapes. But in the big picture, we need other people.
Who are your ‘other people’? Who are those friends you’d call in need? I hope you have someone to share life with.
If you don’t have someone – get someone. If you are alone … and have a cabin in the Rocky’s or a lodge near Big Bend or a chalet in Banff – I’ll be your friend.
