Is the Rodeo in His Future

This week, I got a video from my kids of my first grandson’s Mutton Bustin’ (at least, known to me). It was worthy to share and then comment on …

We do a lot of crazy things. We seek excitement and adventure. But we also hate to see tears fall down the face of tiny ones we love.

Yet, will the tears make him stronger? Will they challenge him to get back up and beck on the horse. OOPS, on the Mutton? Or will he never, ever get near a rodeo again?

My wife would probably prefer him to ride the electronic mutton that comes with 48 inch foam pads on which to fall.

This was county Pioneer Day somewhere in Oklahoma. The boy is a Texan but has roots from Oklahoma as well … where some say the OSU Cowboys need more attention than the OU Sooners. I’ll leave that to people who subscribe and watch ESPN.

Me, I just want to embrace the little cowpoke – say how proud I am of him – acknowledge the pain – and tell him NEVER do that on the bison they raise.

For today … it’s not just shoes that get muddy, sometimes it’s our face.

Final Word = as I think, I’d probably prefer the mutton as a sandwich, with some great Hawaiian Bread buns and a little barbecue sauce.
