Nature Vibes #1 of 5
I was walking outside the office the other day. By outside the office, I mean I was outside the building, circling it. It was early un the morning and I was making the rounds to unlock the doors. Living where do, it was relatively quiet, nil on city noise or local traffic. Yes we get the occasional train barreling through close by, with out any thought to the little community in which it was traveling. But we knew – the trains’ noise made it obvious. But just not at this moment.
it was quite, early farm noises, sun coming over the train tracks to the east, and that early morning aroma of fresh cut grass.
But then, a buzz was heard. Not the singular, annoying buzz of a mosquito or gnat, but a bunch of … something. Then I paused, listened, and stared at budding bush outside the stainglass windows.

It was then I noticed scores of little bumble bees. They were dashing between the flowers, doing what they do … gathering nectar for their queen.

I got to thinking about recent connections to bees …
1 – my son and grandson recently did short road trip to a gas station in Terrell Tx. This gas station had a supersize Bumble Bee Transformer. – very cool

2 – I watched (again) the Jason Stratham “Bee Keeper.” This is an action packed – conspiracy fueled – protect the most vulnerable – get the bad guys (real bad guys) movie which never fails to amuse me.
3 – wasps on the playground (watch for later in the week on this!)
and finally …
4 – we had a cute bumble bee table decoration during a luncheon.
Bees everywhere.
The buzz was relaxing. Mesmerizing. Almost that kind of white noise to which one goes to sleep.
But I started to think about this scenario. What life lessons can I glean.
— Bees live with a structure and purpose. They are diligent in their work ethic. They are focused and their role makes an impact.
— They have a mindfulness that takes the community as part of their life. They are part of a community and their labor has a role in the big picture of the hive.
— They have a small role in the scope of all of nature. Each bee has only produces a tiny fraction of honey, but they seem to never give up. And if I could imagine, they do it with a smile on their face.
— And though they have a small role individually, they can do remarkable things as they work as a community.
— Bees have a way of communicating clearly to the hive. Sometimes by noise, or by dance or who knows … but they communicate. Maybe we need to prioritize communication some more, as well as transparency and clarity.
— They will store food for times of lack. Even if their food stores are full, they will find nooks and crannies to store extra food.
— They look for the best food sources. They are quite selective.
— Even in their work to gather food, they do so much more … they play a key role in the pollination life cycle.
In summery, they do more than just gather nectar, they are reliant, cooperative, and more. They can inspire us to live with better focus and connect to the world around us.
Let’s close with a link to that vibrant, delightful piano for … Flight of the Bumble Bee …
