Road Trip 2026 – The Wait

DAY – 0 (ZERO)

As I type this, I am under 6 hours before we head out. Months going into this trip all coming down to 6 hours.

We’ve planned and planned. Reservations and Scheduling. Maps laid out. Weather checked. Roads checked. Ferry Reservation.

We even looked at alternate choices when we heard Mount Rainer was being hit with multiple wild fires – more on that tomorrow.

Then there’s the packing, the purchasing extra stuff, and more. The planning for the things you can’t plan for.

We did some major preparatory step – we did a Subaru upgrade.

We now have a 2026 Crosstrek Wilderness. And it is sweet. Alpine Green.

Other items ordered – snacks, clothes for the dry, hot hikes, first aid supplies, bear spray, and more.

Audio book downloads.

We even had to schedule an oil change in Port Angeles so that the new car gets its first oil change under 6000 miles. (Its about 9000 miles for the road trip!)

And an endless list of other things for readiness.

The big thing today – WAIT.

And that may be the hardest part.

The car is loaded. The tank is full. The road is calling. The preparation is done.

So I – WAIT.

For the next two weeks … follow along with me and my wife as we have ONE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY.

Today, just wait with me.

POST ARTICLE QUESTION …
What snack would make sure you had on your road trip?
Me, I’ve discovered a new protein bar – Nick’s Chocolate Wafer Bars. Low sugar, high protein, great taste.

And you? What would you make sure we take?
