Road Trip ’26 – Final Day

It’s our last day on the road. We’ve been gone almost two weeks. Actually the longest we’ve ever taken a vacay. But this was more than driving. We had a wonderful encounter … the Ark Encounter (AE) actually.

We stayed at the hotel adjacent to the AE to make the distance between wake up and front gate the shortest possible.

The AE was tremendous. A very professional organization that was designed to handle crowds way beyond what was there on our day.

As an entertainment location, it was full of diverse/multi-generational/variant-level of activities. Virtual reality. Theater. Zoo. Petting Zoo. Restaurants. Photo-Booth. Entertainment Venue. And a Zip-Line. All this over and above the life-size ark itself.

We only did the ark and the gift shops.

The ark.

The Ark Encounter.

Full of life size animals, historical exhibits, realistic explanations of the the ark event, and more. The professional exhibits was rational, scientific, Biblically true, and intriguing.

Another truth to the AE was it was very Gospel focused. No one could get through any of the three levels of the AE without getting a simple and clear picture of our need for God’s rescue – both from a flood and from our sin.

It was highlighted by a discussion of the door to the ark … and that Jesus is the Door.

From here, we headed home to our own bed in the countryside of rural-central Virginia.

Already, we are planning the next event, the next destination, the next … road trip.

Let’s close out the trip with some of my favorite pics (some. may be dups from previous posts, but … oh well.)
