Is spying ever okay? I mean, who doesn’t like James Bond … a Mata Hari story … Hansonn … Ethan Hunt? I also loved reading Mad Magazine’s Spy vs. Spy!

The Bible has them … 12 Isarelites … 2 spies saved by Rahab … David’s spy in Absalom’s court … Moses sent spies into Jazar.
And you have them … yes you do. Well most of you do, unless you are completely off the grid! How many of us talk about something, say visiting Big Bend National Park, and then BAM! … we get ads for VRBO to west Texas or emails about the National Parks or X (Twitter) posts in your timeline for people who have reviewed or visited BBNP?
Google reads your emails, pays attention to where you visit in the ether (the web), or even tracks your movements with your phone. I specifically stay connected with Apple world … on the hopes that they are less likely to invaded my privacy. (Unfortunately, I do have some secondary gmail accounts … Hello Mr. Google (as you read this.))
But, Apple tracks too … location, interests, web history, and even my heartbeat.
Then there is the whole ‘My TV is watching me!’ … which I know doesn’t happen (wink, wink).
Even if you are on Apple, even if you stay off the web, off the TV, or carry a Blackberry … you are still being spied on.
Stay with me for a second.

Let’s get away from just worldly things … Satan has his minions (not the yellow cute ones) watching and manipulating life around you. I love Peretti’s This Present Darkness. There is a warfare going on. His spies are out there.
Know this, he can’t read your mind or your heart … but he can read you, your actions, your history. He knows what trips you up, when’s best to tempt, and your overall weaknesses.
But we can resist. We can stay focused on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
God knows our weaknesses too but in our weaknesses we see His strength, His provision, His deliverance.
And that my friends, will overcome any works of the spies sent from the enemy. I fear not the espionage of those against me.
