We live in a world that is constantly hearing or reading bad news. Health crisis. Washington politics. Countries in despair. Human trafficking. Weather catastrophes. Only one Blockbuster Video store left in the world (Bend, Oregon … you go peeps, I still have my card).
So let’s hear some good news … from Birmingham, Alabama.
He has a regular work outfit for his job … sneakers, blue shirt, shorts, and a red cape. Yep, red cape, which he says makes him go faster. And his shirt has bold red letters emblazoned with “#ShowLove”. He has a title he prefers, “Superhero”, or even more, “President Austin”.
His campaign is to chase the bad guys out of the schools and to feed the homeless. I’d vote for that.
But he is only four. Yep, four years old. He hands out sandwiches and smiles to the homeless outside of Firehouse Ministries. He is greeted with smiles, high fives, and whips of hope. He reminds all, “don’t forget to show love.”
A Burger King gave Austin an allowance of $1000, for a year, to fulfill his feeding mission. The mayor of Birmingham said he is the city’s ambassador and is a story of hope.
A four year. One is never too young, or too old, or too busy, or too anything to not attempt at trying to make a difference in someone’s life. May his inspirational story get us busy.
So, what will you do today to show love?
Follow up to yesterday’s about not making friends … I had two phone calls from friends … one called from work for a short catching up phone call, and the other called from the car and we talked for an hour and a half. Great fellowship while he drove back from Ohio. I think he used me to stay alert, but I’ll take it anyway I can get it. We also developed a volunteer job for his wife … she needs to #ShowLove too. (Kim, you’ll do great). Connect with someone today.
