Forget Playing It Safe – Let’s Get Dangerous

Often my prayers are safe and mild. They can be comforting little ramblings that insanely fall into a routine. They can be like a football team going to their bread and butter plays of hike, run, repeat. But those prayers don’t tap into of the greatness of God, the power of the presence of the Creator of everything, or the splendor of the Spirit who gifts and enables us.

Do we really want safe and simple? Or do we long for adventure, heroic actions, daring exploits, and legendary epics to fill our lives? I mean, look at the movies that make it big … Top Gun (can you hear Danger Zone in your head?), James Bond, Star Wars, etc.

And the classic, Joe Versus the Volcano. The ordinary drone worker that wanted an adventure and found it – and romance – and great luggage – all within a 100 minutes of film.

If this is what you desire, start with your prayer life. We are shown we can come boldly, confidently before the King of kings. We can approach Him without fear or reservation. But be warned, it is scary … not scary in that He will zap you, but that He will awaken us to a life that is dangerous and daring. It starts with letting a Him break you of you. Getting your fears, your laziness, your hang ups, and your pride out of the way.

King David cried out …

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24 ESV‬‬

Praying this dangerous prayer can open a channel of communication to God. Instead of simply asking God to do something for you, ask him to reveal something in you. This moment of truth with God may not change you instantly, but it will help you to recognize your spiritual need and redirect your life.

Craig Groeschel, Dangerous Prayers

And once redirected, once you are walking in the path of peace, power, and everlasting purpose – that’s when the real excitement begins. Dangerous prayers can lead to a daring life of purpose and power. Are you ready for that? Then pray with me …

Search me, O God!
