Four days to Christmas. We look back to that original Christmas Day with such celebration. But for centuries, they looked forward to it.
This week, each day, we will see something from the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament text, that points to the event for which they longed.
The Place …
Bethlehem wasn’t just a coincidence. It’s not like they were on a road trip and stopped for the night and … oops … we have a baby. Nope. Bethlehem was talked about almost 700 years before The baby ever arrived.
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
from ancient days. – Micah 5.2
Think about this, who could’ve planned it any better. Now ponder what God put into place. Caesar had to call for a census, it had to be delegated, scheduled, notification sent out all over the empire, administration put into place, forced … all timed to Mary’s pregnancy, who had to return to Bethlehem, at just the right time!
The place … Bethlehem. Not a coincidence.
If God can plan all that around a location, He may just have you right where He want you too. Don’t feel stuck, fell stationed.
