Paths of the Rain drops

WATER – #1 of 5 in series on Lessons from Things that make up Nature …

It has been way too dry lately. And living in and around farmland of rural Virginia, the farmers are quick to let you know how grateful they are when we get rain.

Last week, I was sitting in the car – parked. And it began to lightly rain. My first thoughts were how grateful so many people would be for the wetness descending from above.

But then, a fresh observation came to me. I watched the drops hit the windshield and create a myriad of droplets … droplets of various sizes and not so various shapes. But then, one got very close to another and they … joined together. The weight then gave way to gravity and created a little stream down the slanted windshield. But then more droplets converged.

I noticed a pattern.

The little rivers along the windshield became the path other streams followed. They did get bigger, wider, but streams kind of followed the same pattern, the same path.

Now there are obvious factors to why this things happen; and in my days as a student in the field of physics, I probably would have written more on that. But let’s not go down that boring path.

Back to paths – and the paths the water took on my windshield.

Life is like that …

• We all have to give in the Laws of the Creator – whether gravity or accountability or whatever.
• We have a tendency to follow where those have gone before us. Though the woods, we stick to the path. Going somewhere? We travel the same old routine we have before. (or the same path Apple Maps has told millions before us.)
• We have a tendency to do the path of least resistance.
• Though this may be tendency, there are still many who break off … follow their on path … and then lead others who follow after that path.

And then something else happened. I started the car and began to drive. When life has pressure and outside forces pushing on them …

• The wind and force against the windshield changes the droplets paths … obstacles and distractions can change our life
• The wind forced more droplets to merge together … relationships are often formed in the storms

And lastly, when I turned the windshield on …

• The lessons were wiped from the windshield with the little push of a button
• Life is fragile, and can be taken/lost in the twinkling of an eye
• But the lessons don’t need to be lost.

In you journey, it’s okay to follow others; and most often, it is a wise thing. But don’t let that be laid out in concrete. Be willing to take your own path in life. Don’t be a Lemur.

There is only one path you need to follow – Jesus. He is THE WAY!!!
