NOTHING BUT HIGHWAY.
Today’s question … what song would be on your road trip playlist?
And we are off. But the first 24+ hours are on the road. 1900+ miles on the first leg.

Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado.
So many things to see along the way. St Louis Arch – Mountains – Wind Turbines – Fields along the Way – America … mostly, darkness.

Our destiny … Utah … the little town of Moab … doorway to Canyon Lands and Arches National Parks.
An important part of our trip are audio books. I have joy in listening to Lee Childs and Jack Reacher. So I have a couple I haven’t heard. But this time, two new series …
Anna Pigeon Mysteries, By Nevada Barr
— Anna Pigeon follows a former city dweller who becomes a national park ranger after a devastating loss, channeling her pain into solving crimes in the remote and rugged beauty of America’s national parks. Thought I read this before I watch the new TV series based on it.

National Park Mystery Series, By Scott Graham
— Features archaeologist Chuck Bender solving crimes tied to Indigenous history, geology, and land use.

I know both deal with National Parks and hopefully keep me awake during those long hours on the pavement. Lisa has podcasts. And we always have Sirius and Apple Music.
I only did one road trip with my family growing up. The only car entertainment I remember was survival. Four kids wrestling in the back of a LTD Crowne Victoria. Being the youngest and smallest – I lost those battles. Now on this trip, if there is wrestling, it will only be me and Lisa – and I don’t mind being in those wrestling matches. Win even if in lose.

So this trip – books, music, conversation.
